Why OTSRides?

Off The Street Rides, better known as OTSRides, evolved from a question one of the partners asked himself while driving to work one day two years ago.

He writes: “While sitting at a light just daydreaming, a 63 Impala pulled up beside me.  This 63’ didn’t have a wet candy paint job, nor was it being towed on the back of a trailer.  It was actually covered with gray primer.  It was a straight car with hydraulics that were definitely in operating order.  I looked at the driver, and realized that he was a lot like me.  A guy that obviously has a 9 to 5, and works on his ride either on the weekend or late at night when everyone is asleep.   He might even have to drive that car to work, so downtime is not an option.  I then started thinking about all of the magazines I subscribe to, and a lot of the large car shows I attend or want to attend like Barrett Jackson.  I then asked that soon to be infamous question, ‘Why isn’t there anything dedicated to people like that guy and us for that matter?’ …

Yes, we all love reading and dreaming about the rides in those magazines, and we love to attend those shows, but this guy… this guy…. was straight Off The Street.  And we all know that’s where it all started, and where a lot of questions are ultimately answered, and where it all will end.”

At that moment, OTSRides was born.  The partners brought together their computer science backgrounds and their love for rides, all types of rides!  They started creating websites through their respective clubs, and continued to be active on the scene, always with OTSRides in the forefront of their mind.  In 2008, they began the construction of an online community dedicated to like minded enthusiasts.  Their goal was to fill that void of giving an audience to “that guy”…

Why OTSRides?  That’s pretty simple.  Somebody had to be that voice, might as well be somebody who loves and lives it!
